Worldwide Women is a collection of sketches of women from different places around the world and Indigenous communities, exploring the relationship between identity, beauty and cultural context.

The collection comes from Leire's fascination with the many ways human beings understand and experience the world. Many Indigenous communities have preserved unique perspectives, traditions and values that offer different ways of seeing life, identity and beauty. Exploring these cultures is a powerful and direct way to step outside our own reality and understand that our perspective is only one among many,  although we do not need to travel far to discover different ways of experiencing life.

Leire's interest in portraying women is also connected to her fascination with cultural identity and the construction of gender roles, which began during her university studies through research into intercultural communication and different forms of masculinity. Through these portraits, She seeks to highlight qualities such as strength, courage, wisdom, protection, resilience and leadership — qualities often traditionally associated with masculinity in some cultures, but that are fundamentally human.

Drawing these women and seeing how these values, beliefs and sense of belonging are expressed and transformed into visual language through their adornments and appearance is what has driven Leire to create this collection.
