ABOUT LEIRE

Leire Casi is a Barcelona-based artist whose practice explores the beauty and magic found within the real world. She has been drawing and painting for as long as she can remember and art has been a constant thread throughout her life.

Although she later completed higher education in Fine Arts, much of Leire’s artistic development has been self-directed. Working outside the constraints of formal artistic training has allowed her style to develop from an instinctive and deeply personal relationship with drawing and painting, and has shaped it more through her own curiosity and perception than through established academic conventions. She also holds a degree in Marketing and has six years of professional experience across different companies. This background has given her a broader perspective on creativity, communication and the way ideas can connect with people

Painting the Beauty of the World is at the heart of her practice. Her work brings together her passion for painting and drawing with a deep curiosity for travel, anthropology, and the ways in which people experience the world. Her subjects are often inspired by places she has visited, moments that have stayed with her, or people and cultures she feels drawn to discover. At the core of this curiosity is her belief in beauty as one of the fundamental forces of human nature.

Although her work includes large-scale architectural paintings, portraiture has always been at the centre of her practice. Through portraits, she explores individuality, identity and beauty, most notably in Women Worldwide, an ongoing portrait series featuring women from different Indigenous communities. Both her architectural and portrait works are ultimately connected by the same desire to observe and understand the world through different perspectives of beauty, and are guided by a curiosity for the whole spectrum of human experience.
